Carrera C2 Ten Spoke Rims
I have my summer tires mounted on these rims, they completely transform the look of the car. The rims cost $600, and I recently had some curb rash repaired and the rims repainted.
Boxster Turbo Twist Rims
I have my snow tires mounted on these rims.
Red Calipers
While powder coating is generally the better way to have your brake calipers painted red, I was unable to leave my car on stands for the few weeks it would take to remove the calipers and have them powder coated. So I painted them using DupliColor High Temperture spray paint.
Once I had the car on stands, I cleaned the calipers as thoroughly as possible with a wire brush and brake cleaner. I then taped off the area around the calipers, and proceeded to paint them. After a few coats of red, I applied 3" white Porsche decals I bought on eBay, then applied a few coats of high temperture clear coat. While no longer perfect my red calipers have held up incredibly well after several years of abuse. |
Mid Strut Brace
Schnell Mid Strut Brace
I added the front and mid strut braces primarily to try and eliminate the noise associated with having a hardtop installed on my 986. I had the front brace installed for several years and while it reduced the noise a bit, it did not eliminate it. After driving with the mid-strut brace for a while, I can say that it greatly reduces the noise associated with a hardtop, basically eliminating it. The trade-off is a slightly stiffer ride.

Lower Rear Stress Bar
Also known as the 'Ernie Bar,' you can find out everything you ever wanted to know about this modification in this thread on 986forum. I used a 24" 7/8" hexagonal aluminum alloy bar (type 6061), with two 3/8" holes drilled and notched to hold the bolt heads. Total cost was about $20.
